If you have any suggestion what would be the best way to do it, we would appreciate it.
Some images might be described inside SVG metadata, I think exiftool should be able to extract them. For the other files: Could you post one of the affected IDs which have no data? This way I can check if any of the backups I know might help.
When searching for a word the system should check if a similar tag exists and - if so - display also tagged images or show a link to the appropriate tag site which usually contains additional images
Currently tags are a pure text/tag-box where everyone is free to enter everything. It might be beneficial to manage this a bit more:
- Suggest tags/autocomplete, maybe sorted by global or user popularity
- Link tags with the same meaning to avoid a situation where with different tags with the same meaning display different results (for example fall == autumn)
- Add a "tag tree", "master tags" or categories consisting of other tags. For example war automatically shows tank, bomb, …
On a images detail page a link to the users profile is shown. Currently this info (CreatedBy) is filled with the users first name. I would prefer to use the username instead - first names aren't unique and most artists and uploaders probably have a known handle.
When no avatar is uploaded the user profile page displays a broken image instead (<img width="300px" src="/images/">). Should be either no image or a placeholder instead.
One more thing would be a proper upload form. Currently I only found the "admin area" which allows uploading, however some fields seem redundant and "admin" terminology might scare people away.
Examples what I am missing:
- Titles currently must be unique, doesn't really make much sense for me. Orange1, Orange2, etc?
- Image-file must be submitted twice? Or should it be SVG + rendered PNG?
- Tags are meh (see FR)
- When something goes wrong most parts of the form are lost and must be entered again
