Update:
While many results are appearing in image search in google, it gets taken down to 0 when any of the filters on Tools > Usage Rights are applied. I am not sure if this is due to the indexer not being able to determine the status as public domain, or if it is something that'll be fix itself as the indexing continues. I thought it was worth mentioning, though.

1. Not sure if this is in the pipelines already, but a simple search api would be great.
Alternately...
2. Current, searching "site:freesvg.org" on google returns about 4300 results. It was around 2000 yesterday. So it's slowly picking up the site, but when you search for "site:freesvg.org", it also says this at the top:
Try Google Search Console
www.google.com/webmasters/
Do you own freesvg.org? Get indexing and ranking data from Google.
Sounds like the site map has not been generated and submitted to google. If this is in place, leveraging google's searching would work well for those of us who already use the search api on google, and would lower the need for a dedicated api.
